Iftah Slippery Slope is a new “free” M4L monophonic acid bassline Synthesizer device that perfectly matches with Sting 2.

At the beginning of July, Iftah took us on a multifaceted, evolving journey through acid patterns with his new Sting 2 M4L device for Ableton Live. Since it’s a MIDI device, it can be easily combined with any Synthesizer device, plugin, or hardware.

A downside is that it is not yet completely standalone, as it lacks a dedicated sound engine that harmonizes with the pattern generator engine. This won’t be reality, but Iftah has introduced Slippery Slope, a small acid synth device that matches with Sting 2.

Slippery Slope is a new single-oscillator, monophonic acid bassline Synthesizer device for Ableton Live inspired by the legendary Roland TB-303. Iftah Slippery Slope is designed to let Sting speak in his first language, and so it finally found its missing partner.

Of course, you can also use it as a traditional synth and pair it with any other MIDI controller or MIDI device in Ableton Live.

It features a straightforward user interface with classic controls and lovely animation. The latter can be turned off for better focus.

You can set the oscillator waveform, modify the character with a dedicated control, or with the built-in filter with cutoff and resonance parameters. There is also an adjustable decay envelope and controls like accent and volume.

Iftah has designed this device to be accessible to everyone. For this, all parameters are logically laid out and fully controllable via tabbing, making it accessible to blind, visually impaired, and sighted users alike.

And just like Sting 2, Slipper Slope is fully compatible with Ableton Push 2, 3, and Push Standalone.

First Impression

It’s excellent that Sting 2 has now found its perfect sound partners. Slippery Slope is especially lovely for Ableton Push 3 Standalone users as they now get a TB-303 bassline on steroids.

Iftah Slippery Slope is now available in various versions, all featuring the same set of features. Free, paid for 20€ + VAT, supporter for 12€ + VAT, and extra love for 40€ + VAT.

It operates as a Max for Live device and requires Ableton Live 11 Suite or Live 11 Standard with a Max for Live license. It’s also compatible with Ableton Push 2, 3, and 3 Standalone.
