Monomono Maya is a new Juno-inspired polyphonic Synthesizer for Ableton Max for Live with Push 3 Standalone support.
At the end of 2024, Monomono released a Synthesizer device called Mono One, which is heavily based on the legendary Roland SH-101 Synthesizer from 1982. The developers have also previously released exciting M4L devices, such as Volume 1, which includes a tape compressor.
Now, the Monomachine developers continue the Roland journey with the Maya Synthesizer device.
Monomono Maya
Maya is a new 6-voice polyphonic subtractive Synthesizer for Ableton Max for Live, inspired by the legendary Roland Juno 6/60 synthesizers. Monomono promises that Maya blends the soul of vintage analog synths with modern flexibility.
Maya has a feature set that is almost identical to that of the Juno synths. Alongside its 6-voice polyphony, it features a single two-wave oscillator with noise, a sub-oscillator, and a resonant low-pass filter, accompanied by a separate non-resonant high-pass filter.
Then, it features a classic ADSR envelope and LFO with delay, both of which are routable to the oscillator and filter. To refine the sounds, there is also a stereo note spread function and a recreation of the famous lush Juno chorus with its three operation modes.
Unlike the original hardware, Maya also has more advanced modulation options available on a secondary page. Here, you can find various mappable functions, including the pitch wheel, envelope, MPE, and aftertouch.
Yes, Monomono Maya is MPE compatible and can therefore also be played perfectly with the Push 3.
Additionally, there is a unique random serial feature that introduces additional differences between channels, whereas stereo serials are designed for perfect channel matching.
The synth device comes loaded with diverse presets and has an easy import/export function. As a neat bonus, Maya also ships with a standalone chorus device for any track.
First Impression
Even though we’re spoiled these days with countless Juno emulations, it’s a lovely release primarily because it’s an M4L device that integrates seamlessly with Ableton Live and also runs on Push 3 Standalone.
Monomono Maya is available now for 41€, or purchase any three Monomono products and get 20% discount. It requires Ableton Live Suite 11 or later, or Live 11 Standard with a Max for Live (M4L) license. It is also compatible with Ableton Push and Push 3 Standalone.
