I had an mpc live 2 Sam, sold it after over a year. I agree with Elektronical, it was like working with an another DAW. I’ve a few options with DAWs using a computer and they’re all better than the AKAI version.
Then using the MPC with Ableton or logic was a terrible experience, didn’t enjoy it. When I use Syntakt and Digitakt it adds to my options, not duplicates them. I make music differently on them than using a computer and a DAW. If you prefer the MPC great all power to you

I shouldn’t but I will. I have nothing against MPCs, I’ve owned several. But I already have a computer, midi controller, and several DAWs so I don’t need another underpowered computer that only runs one DAW and has drum pads permanently attached. The Elektron devices are very well loved and used because they are, unequivocally, not a DAW in a box like the latest generation of MPCs. They are very capable instruments that have been built, tested, and upgraded for specific purposes. If you want to buy one device that does everything, by another computer. My MacBook Air cost $800 and it will forever be more useful for producing music than current MPCs. Hell, a $500 iPad would be too. Not the point. Let’s stop comparing apples and oranges, it silly.

well, you have my attention. Heading to MPCs website to check out. But to be clear, I am not in the market for anything at the moment and when some cash does become available (to be honest) polyend tracker has me circling. Apples and Oranges I know.

Elektron buyers should do themselves a favour and at least try MPC for some weeks to understand the limitations of Digitakt II and to better understand the snarky comments. Elektron is riding you hard and you don’t even get it.
I have the chance to use them both and it is ridiculous how bad the DT2 is. The sounds, the specs, the FX, the sequencer (humanise!), the hardware with velocity sensitive pads, the mixing and mastering, just everything is miles ahead with MPC. DT2 looks like some design school experiment gone bad or a marketing experiment: „Let’s see if people will really buy this when we hype it with lots of YouTube marketing money that should have been spent on development.“

For some reason, releasing a new app is “innovation,” but adding features (for free) to an existing device is an opportunity to complain that it should have been there the whole time. I’ll never understand.

Faffing around and forgetting how to do stuff feels like wasted effort that could’ve been focused on the music making. There’s still an open position for a Goldilocks intuitive UI sampler. For some inexplicable reason this seems like a tall order for these companies.

Nah – overly complex, and now in Stereo in too. YMMV. I didn’t finish a single project because of all the faffing and forgetting how to do stuff. We need an Elektron Simples. Koala in hardware form with some of the Elektron secret sauce. Simples!
