Superbooth 2025: Koma Elektronik Monoplex is a 1-track Eurorack version of the standalone Komplex sequencer.
The Superbooth is three weeks behind us. With over 300 booths, it was the largest edition yet, and it’s evident that not all the news was covered.
One of them is from the Koma Elektronik developers, who have introduced the new Monoplex sequencer for Eurorack.
Koma Elektronik Monoplex
Monoplex is a new 42HP CV/MIDI sequencer for the Eurorack format based on the flagship standalone Komplex sequencer. The module takes a track from the Komplex, adds some extras, and puts it into a modular system.
It has 16 steps, which at first glance may not sound like many. The special feature, however, is that it’s hands-on without menu diving and entirely CV controllable.
On the front panel, you can adjust each note with a dedicated slider, and tweak other relevant parameters: length, gate width, glide, speed, direction, and multiplication/division.
Then, the Koma Elektronik Monoplex features a built-in scale option with three preset scales, a repeat option, and the ability to change the CV range on the fly from 2V to 9V. Additionally, you have a trigger track. On the connection side, it features a CV/gate output, MIDI in and out, and a clock output.
Like the Komplex, Monoplex provides CV inputs for nearly every sequencer parameter, making it an excellent tool for creating complex patterns from just 16 steps by intersecting several modulation sources.
It includes CVs for the first step, length, skip step, gate width, repeat step, glide, start, clock, stop, direction, transpose, and mult/div. Plus, you have start and end of sequence outputs.
First Impression
It appears to be a fun new Eurorack sequencer. I’m looking forward to the first demos.
The Koma Elektronik Monoplex is now available for pre-order at 498€, with shipping scheduled for the end of May or beginning of June 2025.
