UnplugRed ModMan is a free modulation plugin for macOS, Linux, and Windows that uses perlin noise for an organic touch.
The developer UnplugRed offers numerous free plugins, including the atmospheric delay Magic Carpet, which I reported on. His new development is again a free effects plugin.
UnplugRed has released ModMan, a new, unique, cross-platform modulation plugin.
UnplugRed ModMan
ModMan is a new modulation plugin for macOS, Linux, and Windows with a unique touch. Instead of a traditional modulator, UnplugRed ModMan uses a Perlin noise modulator, which is a type of gradient noise developed by Ken Perlin in 1983.
It offers various shapes, including the Perlin noise, allowing you to create pseudo-random changes to parameters. Various controls give you the option to fine-tune it, including speed, master speed, stereo, shape, and more.
This modulation source can then be used to modulate up to four included effects: tape drift, lowpass filter with resonance, saturation, and amplitude.
ModMan can achieve a wide range of effects, including tape-style modulations, add simple movements to a pad, or even more experimental results.
First Impression
A nice, straightforward modulation plugin with a distinct character.
UnplugRed ModMan is available now as a free download with a visual banner as a VST3, AU, and CLAP plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel), Linux, and Windows.
It’s also available without a banner by supporting the creator’s Patreon for $5 a month or more.
