Decadebridge Shallow Grave is a new free experimental filter plugin for macOS and Windows with three filters, plenty of modulation, and more.
I have already reported several times about the British indie developer Decadebridge, which has unveiled some exciting experimental synths produced in mini-batches in recent years—for example, the Albers 4-oscillator drone synth, the patchable Lo-Fi FM SN synth, and more.
The developer has no hardware-exclusive focus. In August 2024, he released the free stereo delay plugin SpeculumLITE, which is packed with modulation. And now there’s another one. Decadebridge has released Shallow Grave, a new filter plugin for macOS and Windows.
Decadebridge Shallow Grave
Shallow Grave is a filter plugin with a more unusual feature set. Unlike traditional filter plugins with one filter, Decadebridge Shallow Grave has three state-variable filters cascaded to a filter effect.
Each filter features various modes, including lowpass, bandpass, and highpass, that are controllable with classic cutoff and resonance parameters.
Then, each filter block has an independent modulation engine with a multi-wave LFO and an AD (attack/decay) envelope. Both modulators are flexible and offer various parameters. For example, the LFO has shape and phase parameters, while the AD envelope also gives you control over the probability.
Additionally, you can find in each block a dry/wet knob and an option to mix in the previous filter. Talking about mixing. On the right side, there’s also a deeper mixing area for more precise signal blending, as well as an A/B function.
Once you have set the filters to any side A or B, you can mix/blend with the A/B parameter the filters, giving you special filter effects.
First Impression
At first glance, this looks like an exciting free filter plugin with an experimental approach. I haven’t been able to test the plugin yet because installing it on macOS 10.15 is a bit tricky. However, I’m in contact with the developer to resolve the issue.
Decadebridge Shallow Grave is available now as a free download for macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows.

“The developer has no hardware-only focus“ – what does it mean?
there are developers who develop exclusively hardware products and no software. As he has also software on offer, he has not an hardware-only focus for its portfolio.
he has not an hardware-only focus for its portfolio.
this also doesn’t make any sense at all… can you explain with the correct grammar?
Again: there are developers who develop exclusively hardware products like many Eurorack brands. Since the Decadebridge develops both hardware AND software, he has not a hardware-exclusive focus for its portfolio. Grammar? Sorry that it’s not perfect but I’m neither native British nor US, English is my fourth official language.
I’m a native English speaker and teacher, as written it made sense to me.
I couldn’t get it to load. The VST3 was quarantined.
same here as written in the text 😉 the developer tries to fix it
